PULVERIZED COAL PREPARATION
AND INJECTION PLANT

This plant is designed to grind, dry and inject pulverized coal into the blast furnace hearth area through the tuyere apparatus.   The plant may be installed both in the available blast furnace subject to retrofitting and in the newly built ones.   Pulverized coal injection technology and the related equipment may be designed to meet the specific customer's requirements in collaboration with VAI (Austria), DONNTU Research institute (Donetsk) and UKRENERGOCHERMET (Kharkov).   Injection of the pulverized coal to the amount of about 200 kg/ton of iron may be provided.

• Coal storage and run-of-mine coal preparation system;
• Pulverized coal preparation system;
• Distributing and proportioning section.

The use of the plant allows to:
1. Save coke by at least 20%;
2. Raise the blast furnace output by 10%;
3. Utilize cheap noncoking coals instead of coke;
4. Cut down the iron production costs by 3 to 8%;
5. Improve environmental conditions due to reduction the number of the available coke and by-product process facilities.
