Explosion vents are designed to release gas from the blast furnace to the atmosphere.

Equilizing valves operate as the gas stop valves provided for the blast furnace charging apparatuses.
These valves are installed along the vertical portions of the delivery pipelines which feed gas into the area between the top bells of a charging apparatus in order to equilize gas pressure therein with that at the furnace top as well as gas pipelines to release gas from the top bell area to the atmosphere for equalizing pressure therein with the atmospheric one.
