Automated special-purpose cars are design to receive hot metal from the blast
furnace and deliver it to the BOF shop. A hot metal mixer car moves on tracks
being hauled by the locomotive. Hot metal is charged into the mixer and
discharged through its neck. Two types of the car bodies are available: torpedo shaped cars and detachable bottom mixer cars. Detachable bottoms are fixed to the body with special quick-clamping devices. |
