One of the main branch of activities, which NKMZ originally adhered to,
was designing and manufacture of the opencast mining machines. In the late 40s of the last century, in connection with the immense development of the opencast mining technologies and construction of the large hydraulic structures with great amounts of the earth-moving operations NKMZ started production of the Type CE-3 power shovels and Type ESh-1 walking drag-lines and within next decade ESh-4/40 and ESh-10/60 walking drag-lines were launched into operaation. In the late 50s, concurrently with implementation of the draglines in service, heavy-duty stripping shovels with the buckets of 15 m3 and 35 m3 in capacity were manufactured by NKMZ for the first time in the USSR. Later on the supplies of these power shovels were initiated both inside the country and abroad-to Germany, Russia, India, China, Iran, Cuba, etc. NKMZ became known all over the world and its trade mark obtained general recognition. During half a century, over 2,000 power shovels were produced. |
