HOT ROLLING MILLS

  Over 80% of hot-rolled sheet in CIS is made at wide-strip mills of NKMZ production.
  In the programme of NKMZ constant attention is being given to improvement of these mills design. It is due to high share of hot-rolled flat materials in the world production and because of growing of user's requirements for their quality.
  In the process of hot rolling technology development carried out is a search for most optimum design of wide-strip mills providing for fulfilment of requirements for power saving, capital investments reduction, technological potentialities widening and raising of automation level.
Hot rolling mills
  One of the latest developments of NKMZ - new universal semicontinuous wide-strip mill 2500 mm, fitted with modern backup facilities and production control systems, annual capacity of which is above 5 mln. t of strip of various steel grades including special ones.
  Besides procedures conventional for wide-strip mills here can be achieved controlled rolling which allows the rolled materials with mechanical properties of low-alloy steels to be produced from ordinary grades of steel.

  More economic and less capital-intensive rolling mills of small capacity are coming into ever increasing use; among them are in particular rolling mills with coilers in furnaces (Steckel mills). NKMZ has made three of such mills.
  In our design concept of new generation Steckel mill we adhere the conventional set of equipment with reversing rougher, ensuring in this case high quality of rolled strip.

  More than 10 hot rolling strip mills NKMZ designed and supplied for enterprises of aluminium industry. The most unique of them is semicontinuous 2000 mm mill for hot rolling of coils and heavy-gauge plates from aluminium and its alloys for Krasnoyarsk Iron and Steel Works with an annual capacity of 1 mln. t.   Heavy reduction ability, high degree of automation, modern technology and facilities make it possible to produce a wide range of products with required level of surface quality, mechanical properties and allowances for geometrical dimensions.

  For production of small quantities of rolled materials from aluminium and its alloys proposed is a single-stand reversing mill with coilers in front of stand and behind it.
  The advantages of such system lie first of all in functions division of roughing and finishing rolling ensuring production of more accurate and high-quality strip owing to temperature control and tension rolling during last passes.

  For needs of machinebuilding, aviation, shipbuilding, manufacture of large diameter gas pipes NKMZ designs and produces plate mills for plates and heavy-gauge plates up to 5000 mm wide from carbon, low-alloy, high-strength and stainless steels as well as from aluminium and its alloys.   In order to finish and heat treat the rolled material provision is made for levellers, defectoscopes, side shears, slitting and crop shears, marking and stamping facility, units for precooling and speed cooling of transfer bar in finisher, normalizing-cum-hardening and temper furnaces, roller quench furnace.
  An the customer's request we furnish equipment both for new and reconstructed plate mills with the parameters below:

  One of the promising trends in the development of new energy-saving, economic and ecologically purer technologies is manufacturing of hot-rolled products with casting and rolling processes combined.
  NKMZ is prepared to propose to their customers: Technology and equipment permitting sheet production on the continuous-casting direct-rolling facility (CCDR) incorporating in one technological row a thin slab continuous casting machine, end-charged end-discharged furnace and hot-rolling mill with the capacity up to 1,700,000 t/year.
